The Bridges

Christmas 2011 message from a Great Fan, Mike Igoe.

“Well, youse guys was quite the hit at the party this past Saturday night.

My Incorrect East Coast grammar notwithstanding, at the end of the night there were nothing but rave reviews of your respective talents.  Your presentation of the “Great American Songbook” couldn’t have been better suited to the occasion and the guests assembled.  Too bad my rendition of “I’ve Got Rings On My Fingers” wasn’t as well received.  You were both most kind to allow me that routine!  Being accompanied by Neil on “Hong Kong Blues” was, for me, a load of fun.  Oddly, when I play that song, it doesn’t seem quite so polished.  To your credit, several of the departing guests suggested making this an annual event, inviting you back for a return engagement.  Those suggestions have not fallen on deaf ears.

We’ve finally had an opportunity to read your bio’s.  To our eyes and ears, there was nothing in there that was over-stated.  Your musical lives are something that Scarlet and I envy.  Scarlet, who was a music major (piano) in college, has declared that she’ll now get back to practicing the piano – plunking along on her Steinway grand.  That’s one of the reasons why we don’t cohabitate – where the hell can we put both of the pianos?

By the way, we’ve also had a chance to listen to the two CD’s that you gave to us.  Great music, great selections.  We’ll look forward to seeing you at Dazzle.

What’s the bottom line?  Well, here it is.  You made our annual cocktail party a huge success.  You succeeded in making everyone feel welcome, gave them happiness, and brought us all much closer to the Christmas spirit.  The nostalgia was irrepressible.”
