The annual Keyboard Counterpoint returns for another special night at Dazzle!
Neil Bridge is a legendary jazz piano player, composer, arranger, and band-leader. He has accompanied Mel Torme. Anita O’Day, Nancy Wilson, Dakota Staton, Johnny Smith, The Mills Brothers, Clark Terry, Sonny Stitt, and many more. He is well known for accompanying Johnny Smith (legendary world-class guitar player) for 30 years. Neil has currently written over 200 musical arrangements for his eight piece band. He’s also one of Colorado foremost jazz educators. Many of his former students went on to have successful careers in Jazz and the entertainment industry, such as actor Don Cheadle, saxophonist Nelson Rangell, saxophonist Javon Jackson, percussionist Gary Sosias, saxophonist Brad Leali, and trumpeter Ron Miles.
Steve Denny is an active pianist and educator based in NYC. Prior to that he was based here in the Front Range, and is longtime favorite of Colorado’s vibrant jazz community. For over three years Steve was the Music Director at Dazzle, and we are always excited to be able to welcome him back to our stage. He holds a BA in music from Loyola University Chicago, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude, and an MM in Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado.
